There’s a stigma around the people of God being bold that nobody wants to talk about. Christians are taught to seek the peace of Jesus and comply with the laws, mingle well with thy neighbor, submit to your husbands and everything will be fine.
As Christians, it’s easy to fall into a trap of being an accomplice to sin. Sin is no doubt universal and something we all have to navigate in ourselves and others. Sometimes it’s hard to find the right way to approach sin. Some Christians come off as overbearing and insensitive, while others seem passive and unbothered. Our duties as Christians are to live for Jesus and let God do the judging. We have to live for Jesus because He cannot. Part of living for Jesus includes leading, teaching and correcting just as He would have. Jesus was just, fair, patient, obedient and loving but He was not a weak man by any means. Jesus knew everyone that surrounded Him was sinful and he still walked with them, He still Healed them and used them. God knows we all have sin but that doesn’t excuse us to do it freely. We are sinful by nature(thanks Adam and Eve) but we should be in constant “spiritual therapy”, working to do better. Matthew 5:5 says “Blessed are the meek; for they will inherit the earth”. This scripture doesn’t mean people that turn a cheek to sin.
As Christians, let’s agree that sometimes growth requires work. Sometimes spiritual growth requires discomfort and effort, it’s not always an overnight change. God is not a magical genie that transforms our lives for us upon our command, we work for God, He doesn’t work for us. Sometimes saying the words no one else wants to say is necessary. Sometimes setting yourself apart from the crowd is necessary. Sometimes not being like the others is necessary. Sometimes taking the alternative route is necessary. Sometimes being misunderstood is necessary. Being a Christian is not always going to be easy but it doesn’t compare in the slightest to the sacrifice Jesus made.
Surely, if Jesus can hang on a cross for us, we can stand up for Him.
